Web Search Project

1. Choose one of the following topics:
• Management Information Systems
• Electronic Commerce
• Electronic Business
• One of the six major types of systems as classified by Laudon & Laudon (ESS, MIS, DSS, KWS, OAS, or TPS)
2. Find three web sites on the Internet about your topic.
• You can use Internet directories, search engines, or other means of finding these sites.
• The sites should be personally useful to you and other managers and business people who are learning about MIS. They should contain general introductory information that you can understand.
3. Create a Word document with a table with the following headers: (Table, Insert, Table, 4 columns, 7 rows, AutoFit to Contents, OK)

Marking Scheme

• Is the table complete? Well formatted? Are all the boxes filled? Are the URLs correctly typed?
• Is there evidence of work to find the site? Were many sites reviewed? Is the description of the search method used to find the site detailed enough for someone else to follow?
• Is the topic clear? Do the sites focus on this topic? Do the sites appear to be truly useful for students of this course?
• Would the explanations of usefulness and problems be helpful for another student looking for information?
• Was this work original? (Or if the same sites and descriptions used by another student is there any acknowledgment of shared work?)
