Coursework
- In addition to weekly laboratory exercises, you are required
to complete five small projects and a larger final project.
- For each of the projects, choose one topic.
- Choose real-world, creative, challenging, adventuresome projects.
- Choose projects that
are interesting and meaningful to you, that stimulate you to follow
your interests, explore new ideas and learn new skills.
- If you have an alternative idea for the topic or focus of any
of the projects, please contact the instructor who can advise whether
it is appropriate.
- Coursework should be sent in an e-mail attachment to the
instructor.
- All coursework, including any documentation, must use HTML
format (not Word or RTF or sxw).
- You may need to include multiple files, including files
with other formats such as images and external stylesheets.
- When there is more than one file, you must create an archive
using a compression/archiving program like Ark, zip, gzip or WinZip.
- All HTML documents must contain appropriate titles and headings.
- Your name and e-mail address must appear somewhere in
each document.
- All documents must be professional. Avoid inconsistent formatting,
spelling and grammar mistakes, broken links, etc.
- For each project your goal should be to demonstrate mastery
of concepts and skills as listed in the objectives
and presented in the lectures.
- Use the best tools and resources available to you, including
people, hardware, software, online documentation,
the library and the Internet.
- The amount of time and effort you put into each project should
be significant, but reasonable, organised and efficient.
- To avoid plagiarism, follow the usual academic guidelines about
acknowledging your tools, content sources and any work and ideas that
are not your own.
- Each assignment will be marked by assigning a percentage based
on qualitative assessment of difficulty, content, format and process
of your work.
- Lab deliverables are due by e-mailing attachments to gvogl@umu.ac.ug the week after the lab session
takes place, Friday at 12 noon.
- See the descriptions of individual labs by following links on the
calendar.
