Lab 2: Web Searching and Downloading
A. Web Searching
- Choose one of the following topics:
- HTML
- Web design
- Web usability
- Web architecture
- Web evaluation and testing
- visual design
- image editing
- scripting languages
- markup languages
- social and ethical issues of the Internet
- Use at least two different search engines or directories to search
for the topic and look at many different sites.
- Choose three sites
about the topic which are the most useful to you but not already listed on the
links page of the course web site. For each site:
- List the title and URL of the site.
- Name the search engine or directory you used.
- Write the search string you entered and/or the path of links you followed.
- Explain (in a few sentences) the content of the site and why you find the
site useful.
- Send the information as an e-mail message to the
lecturer with subject web lab 2a.
B. Downloading
- Choose three of these file types:
- document, image, audio, video, animation, archive, program
- For each file type,
- Locate a file of that type which is related to Uganda Martyrs University, no
larger than 30 KB.
- Download the file to a hard or floppy disk.
- Compose an e-mail message to the lecturer
with subject web lab 2b.
- Attach the three files to the message.
- In the body of the message give the full URL of each file and explain what
type of file it is.
